Eight people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man during a festival (Yatra) in Hannikeri village, located in the Bailhongal taluk of Belagavi district, Karnataka.

- Victim: Sangangouda Basanagouda Patil (50).
- Location: Hannikeri village, Bailhongal taluk, Belagavi.
- Cause: The altercation began over a minor dispute, specifically related to the victim dancing in the street in front of the accused’s house, which escalated due to prior enmity.
- Method: The victim was attacked with weapons including sickles, axes, chains, sticks, and iron rods.
- Injured: The victim’s son, Vinodgouda, was also attacked with a rod when he attempted to intervene.
- Arrests: Nesargi police arrested eight suspects within a few days of the incident.
- Investigation: The operation was conducted under the guidance of Bailhongal Deputy Superintendent of Police Veerayya Hiremath, by Nesargi Police Inspector Gajanan Nayak and his team.
